Three qualify for regionals in 3200m

HALL STADIUM - Sophomore Elizabeth Westlake is the district champ for 3200m. She and junior Amy Machemehl were able to finish 1-2 against a pair of Austin runners. The two qualified for the Region III-5A Championships at Humble High School on April 29th and 30th. Senior Chris Pine also captured a regional birth getting edged out by the defending champion and cross country champion Eskender Abdalla from Bush. Abdalla pulled away from Pine with 600 meters to run and didn't look back. Abdalla ran 10:02 to Pine's 10:12.

Junior Laurel Pedowicz is also the junior varsity district champ in pole vault, clearing a season best 7-6. Pedowicz also helped the Lady Cougars by placing 5th in the triple jump.

Tonight sub varsity prelims begin as well as varsity field events. The sub-varsity 3200m run will be a final tonight.
