KXC sits down with Eric Sheppard

Senior Eric Sheppard is poised to have a breakout season. He is healthy and made a great start in his first two meets. KXC spoke with Eric about his likes, his future and his goals.

Kempner XC: Eric, what's your favorite movie?
Eric Sheppard: Rush Hour 2, it's hilarious.

KXC: How about your favorite food?
ES: I love crawfish, but not before a race.

KXC: What is your favorite cross country workout?
ES: The interrupted run where we run 45 minutes, rest 5 minutes, do 45 minutes, rest 5 minutes, then finish it off with 30 minutes.

KXC: What were your goals coming into your senior season?
ES: I want to get a scholarship for running, but ultimately I want to make it to Round Rock and run in the state champioship.

KXC: Looking back to last year, what were some of the things that held you back?
ES: Being competitive was a problem. I also had trouble getting past my injury.

KXC: Which meet are you most looking forward to this year and why?
ES: District. To continue our tradition at Kempner (to win 11 straight district championships). We want to win our 4th championship since I've been at Kempner. I also really want to finish 1-2 with Chris Pine.

KXC: What do you need to do to make it to the state championship?
ES: Stay healthy, eat right, and continue to work hard.

KXC: Thanks Eric.

Eric and the rest of the Kempner squad will be at Texas A&M tomorrow competing in the seeded division. Check back with us next week as we sit down with Senior Veronica Rodriguez.
