Let's welcome Coach Clark Rainey to KXC and wish him a successful first season. The following is 2009's meet schedule:
Missouri City (Apr. 16) - Junior David Koistinen captured the boys 3200m title, and was runner-up in the 1600m race. Senior Katherine Toy took third place in the girls 3200m final. Both David and Katherine qualified for Regionals in their respective events. In the subvarsity races, junior Joe Green was runner-up in the boys 3200m final. The JV girls squad took home the district title led by sophomore Kellsie Winkler who won the girls 3200m race and anchored the title-clinching 4 x 400m relay.
Sugar Land (Nov. 10) - Academic Excellence awards were handed out tonight. The awards are given to students who, in the previous school year, received all A's or maintained a minimum 4.7 GPA with no grade lower than 80. Congratulations to the following recipients representing KXC (2007 team members in italics):
Houston (Nov. 8) - The Coogs concluded their cross country season with the Region III Championships at North Harris College. The varsity girls squad came in 14th out of 24 schools and obtained some redemption by topping Clements (15th) who defeated Kempner at district. The girls were led by junior Hiba Kreidie and senior Katherine Toy with fab freshman Jaclyn Amadio and senior Gina Keidel close behind. The varsity boys finished 16th out of 24 schools, and were led by juniors David Koistinen and Abel Simie. Both were only about a half-minute from qualifying for state. Here are the team's official results. Click here for complete girls results and boys results.
The varsity girls and varsity boys will be competing in Regionals at North Harris College (also called Lone Star College North Harris) on Saturday, November 8. The 5A schools are going last this year with the girls race starting at 1:20pm and the boys race at 1:40pm. Click here for more information. Be sure to arrive early for parking.
