Shalin and Shanup: brothers on the course


Shalin took first place at the first practice meet and Shanup was the intrical 5th man. They have high goals this year and expect to reach them.

KXC: What’s your favorite movie? Why?

Shalin: The Prestige, because it had a lot of twists and turns like a cross country race, oh snap.

Shanup: The Bourne Ultimatum, its dramatic in the end, you don’t know what’s going to happen.

KXC: What’s your favorite food? What about your favorite pre-race food?

Shalin: I like chicken parmesean, before a race chicken pasta.

Shanup: I’ll have to go with enchiladas, before a race I like smoothies.

KXC: What’s you favorite XC workout?

Shalin: stretching; I like the one we do on the track, the crazy one, there’s a mile, 800s, 400s, 200s

KXC: What were your goals coming into this season?

Shalin: State

Shanup: state

KXC: What were some of the things that might hold you back this year?

Shalin: school

Shanup: nothing can stop me.

KXC: Which meet is your favorite meet?

Shanup: the one we're going to tomorrow

Shalin: I like the hilly one, Cy-Fair

KXC: When you crossed the finish line at the first practice meet what was the first thing that went through your mind?

Shalin: FOOD, actually that cool down.

Shanup: Trash

KXC: How fast will you need to run on the regional meet course to qualify for state?

Shalin: what is it? Get under 15:30

Shanup: 16:20

KXC: What do you want to do differently this year?

Shalin: make an impact at big meets and regionals

Shanup: don’t hold back, go all out, don’t let the team down.

Directions to Bear Branch Park

I-45 north will take you to The Woodlands where you will exit Research Forest Drive. Turn right on Research Forest Drive and there are signs that will direct you to the park. The park is on the left and if you get to the high school you've gone a little bit too far.

Team Captains Named

At today's logbook meeting the team voted on captains. The girls' captains will be junior Katherine Toy and sophomore Briana Gifford. The boys' captains are seniors Shalin Dalal and Errol Hampton.

XC Kick-Off Meeting

The Kempner Athletics Booster Club will have cookies and punch for the Cross Country Kick-Off meeting Tuesday night at 6:30pm in the Commons. We will disseminate information and answer questions at that time.
