Pine is Mr. KHS

The popularity of Kempner XC team members continues to grow. Veronica Rodriguez started it all when she was named KHS Homecoming Queen during the football season, but last night Chris Pine was named "Mr. KHS" by winning the school pageant. KXC members are going to try to make a clean sweep this spring by getting Eric Sheppard to be named Prom King.

Cougar distance runners to begin training

Distance runners who plan to run track for the 2005 season will start practice today. Everyone interested should report to the south entrance of the track stadium at 2:45pm today. All runners competing in events ranging from 800 meters to 3200 meters should be in attendance. The goal for December and January is to re-establish a base for the season. Today will include a run, stretching, hurdle flexibility, form drills and ab exercises. Over the next two days we will be conducting time trials to gage team fitness and monitor improvement throughout the winter training period.
