Varsity Girls Madison Results

HOUSTON (Feb. 23) - The varsity girls track team competed in the Madison Relays at Butler Stadium this past Saturday. The Lady Coogs finished 2nd overall behind a tremendous squad from Lancaster who are 4A state champs the past 7 consecutive years. KXC veterans Hiba Kreidie and Katherine Toy took 1st and 2nd place in the 3200m event with Hiba edging out Kathy by 7/100 of a second. Both PR'd with times of 12:47.48 and 12:47.55 respectively. In the 1600m event, Hiba took 2nd with a PR of 5:43.63. She led throughout the race but was passed in the final 100 meters by the eventual winner from Lancaster. Kathy finished in 8th place with a time of 6:06.10 after a calf injury from the 3200m race. Zelda Abadom came in 5th in a very competitive 800m event. Zelda and Hiba also ran in the 4x400m relay and the quartet took 3rd overall. The girls squad will be competing at Crump Stadium next week.

Track Season Week One

The boys and girls track teams started off last week on Thursday at the Travis JV Meet. Kempner looked good in the distance races with sophomore Abel Simie winning the 3200m and junior Michael Montez winning the 1600m. Montez was edged in the 800 placing second. The junior varsity boys team placed second overall in the meet.

The varsity boys traveled to Rosenberg to run in the Terry Relays. The guys placed second to Seven Lakes in the 4x1600m relays averaging under 5 minutes a mile and anchored by senior Shalin Dalal's 4:42 mile.
