Get your kickin' shoes on!

We will begin playing soccer and other fun sports involving running during the last week of school. I'd like to name it "KXC Field Week." On Monday we will play soccer in the stadium immediately following school. Come with suggestions for the other days. This will help break up the monotony of studying for finals. If you can't come due to finals no big deal and good luck. Call me or email me for more information.

Athletic physicals coming up

Physicals will take place Thursday, May 19th from 6 to 8 pm in the boys gym. You must be there to run cross country in the fall. The cost is $20 and a portion of that money will go to Kempner athletic training, and you know we need those trainers. DO NOT MISS THIS.
IT IS MANDATORY!

What an awards night!

KHS COMMONS - KXC raked in some hardware at the 2005 Spring Awards Banquet. The night began with a fabulous video montage prepared by Coach Edwards then the presentation of the junior varsity and freshmen plaques. We then moved on to the commons where BBQ was served and the major awards were presented. Sophomore Elizabeth Westlake was named Cross Country MVP, Sophomore Bernardo Palomera won the Cross Country Cougar Heart Award for his tenacious effort during the season. Seniors Chris Pine and Eric Sheppard were named Co-MVP for Cross Country. Eric also went on to win the Track and Field MVP honors and Co-Student Athlete of the Year with track teammate Elijah Theus, who was the 400 meter leg of the Cougars distance medley relay.

The big winner however, was senior Veronica Rodriguez. She won Track and Field MVP, the Cougar Heart Award for Cross Country, Kempner Girls' Athlete of the Year along with swimmer Nicole Nugent and she was awarded the Kempner Booster Club Athletic Scholarship.

It was a great night for all of Kempners' Cross Country and Track athletes and it really fired up the team for next year! All returning runners remember we start our summer base training on Monday, May 30th at 7am to begin preparing for our shot at a state championship. The boys need to win back the district team title and the girls are going for three in a row!
